After meeting in Japan in the mid-90's we enjoyed traveling to Japanese hot spring resorts and staying at Japanese inns. Even then we talked about someday becoming innkeepers ourselves. Over the years we have stayed in B&B's around the U.S., in Europe and in Canada, and gradually developed a vision for our own bed and breakfast. That vision is now Maplecroft Bed & Breakfast, and we look forward to sharing it with you.
Dan was born and raised in Virginia and retired from teaching high school Marketing and Entrepreneurship to move to Vermont and open Maplecroft. He graduated from Virginia Tech and attended graduate school at Utah State, after which he spent a couple of years teaching high school in Park City, Utah and working on the mountain at the Park City Ski Area. He lived in Japan for twelve years where he taught English as a second language at a Japanese high school. He also worked for Delta Airlines as Japanese speaker on flights to Japan from Portland, Oregon. Dan enjoys travel and sports, and is a self-professed political talk show junkie. He is also a closet interior decorator, and his taste is reflected in the redecoration of Maplecroft. Dan currently serves as Executive director of The Barre Partnership, a non-profit charged with creating and maintaining a vibrant Downtown Barre.
